NANTO City
About 300 years ago, this 5-story Gasshozukuri dwelling was built over a span of about 8 years. At that time, Choemon Fujii, employed as the gunpowder-tax collector for the Kaga ruling family, used the building as his government house and private dwelling - it was home to his 35-member family up until the Meiji era. The interior is made of hardwood. On the first floor you'll find the Government Inspector's study; the third through fifth floors were used for silkworm breeding.
