Trekking in snowshoes・
Making an Aroma Diffuser

Awaken all your senses
at Kouyoku Shinrinyoku®︎,
where heart and fragrance resonate.

Located within Chubusangaku National Park, the Norikura Highlands is a natural treasure trove of vast, pristine forest. In winter, fresh snow blankets the landscape and offers a charm entirely different from the verdure of spring. On one such winter’s day, I joined Kouyoku Shinrinyoku®︎ Field Navigator and Guide SANA-san for a forest bathing session.

As I felt the crunch of the snow beneath my snowshoes, we ventured into the quiet forest. The invigorating scent of the earth and conifers, the sound of the wind, the twittering of birds… as the sound, fragrance, and touch of nature surrounded me, I felt every sense awaken. It was like my heart and body had been released, and I was returning to my true self.

At rest stops along the way, we paused to relax on the snow, practice deep-breathing, enjoy a spot of tea, and refresh our minds and bodies. We also chose our favorite comforting tree fragrances and made our own aroma diffusers.

It seems immersing oneself in nature not only helps escape the noise and stress of daily life but also cleanses the heart and mind through the power of aromatherapy.

Trekking in snowshoes was a fun, invigorating experience. Plus, I got a breathtaking view of Mt. Norikura!

As we strolled the forest, all my senses came alive as I learned the names of different trees and took in their scents!

The refreshing scent of conifers like Sawara cypress, Japanese hemlock, Japanese arborvitae, and Maries’ fir is a balm for the soul.

Enjoying a nice cup of herbal tea in the snow was truly a luxurious experience!

We recalled the various wood scents on our stroll to chose our favorite essential oils and make aroma diffusers.

The powder snow was so soft and fluffy! We even got to make the very first tracks.
